It's Columbus Day

On the way home from school, I tried to explain to Henry about Columbus Day.

I just overheard him re-explaining it to Leslie:

A long time ago, there was a man named Columbus. He got a boat in Brazil and sailed here to Houston. And there was no one living here and there were no houses or anything yet. There was just sand and palm trees. So then they started building houses. And then we were able to live here.

Hmmm, is that really what I said?

  1. Do you know Colombus who sailed the sea
    In Fourteen-hundred ninety-three
He thought the world was round like a ball
    And found some Indians tall

Sadly, they don't teach that song in school anymore. The whole Indian thing just doesn't fly.

  2. Alright, I was wrong. Stupid nursery school! (They taught me the rhyme that way.)

    Columbus sailed the ocean blue
    In fourteen-hundred ninety-two
Thought the world was round like a ball
    And found some Indians tall.
